It is with a heavy heart that we have to tell you that this year’s LIVE, IN PERSON Action For Distraction is being cancelled by The Foundation of Morristown Medical Center out of an abundance of caution for the flu, COVID-19 and other seasonal illnesses, as well as in keeping with the CDC guidelines on social distancing. While we are cancelling the live event on May 9th, we ARE keeping the event’s “Virtual 5K” option open!

                                      Virtual

8th Annual ^ Action For Distraction 5K

The event that would have been Saturday, May 9th, 2020 in Morristown can now be done ANYWHERE!  Running has long been seen as a great health benefit, boosting your physical and mental health, reducing stress and more!  Our Virtual Run  allows you to practice social distancing while still supporting Goryeb Children's Hospital!  You sign up, and we'll send you your bib, finisher's medal & t-shirt in the mail!  You can do the 3.1 miles anywhere (even on your treadmill)!

You never know when illness or injury is going to strike a child in your life or the life of someone you know. The Action For Distraction 5K was started when a 10 year old from Long Valley realized the importance of being distracted while in the hospital. Zach Rice was in perfect health one minute, and spent the next two years in and out of hospitals with a rare septic hip infection and resulting Avascular Necrosis. Come support Zach, along with this year's "Face of the Race," who has recently  needed Goryeb Children's Hospital like Zach did, along with the 50,000 kids who need treatment there each year!

Is  this a USTAF Sanctioned course?

-No!!  Because this is a trail course, it can't be.  The course is a mixed surface: paved, grass & gravel, along with some hills. It's challenging, so be ready for some sweating!

How scary is the course going to be?

-There are 3 "Haunted" portions of the trail ... but don't worry! Our haunters have been instructed to be more fun than scary, especially with the little ones! We're not looking to give you heart failure ... just a spirited run/walk!

-Will there be anything to buy on race day, or should I leave my wallet at home?

-If you did not order a PB&J boxed lunch online and still want one, we will have a limited supply available on race day! We will also have a store open selling soup mugs, umbrellas, Fruit Punch Blood Bags & Jello Syringes. As always, all the proceeds go to Goryeb Children's Hospital for bone health awareness and research!

Can I pay with a credit card on race day?

-Cash is always welcomed, but we will have a card reader on hand on race day for any extra purchases you want to make!
